November continues to always be conference, finishing fall quarter finals, cross country nationals and then the return to home! This quarter was incredible. It was hard and confusing as I navigated figuring out my plans for next school year. It was joyful as I developed some wonderfully sweet new friendships. It was challenging as I was pushed creatively through new ideas. It was fulfilling as I got to collaborate with some of my favorite artists. It was FULL!
Finals were completed, cross country conference won and I’m back home, regrouping before a wild winter. I’m in an interesting state right now of fulfillment, which I think is motivated by some big life changes. I’ll share more later this year but as of now I really feel unworthy of some of the opportunities I have been given and am being given. I’m trusting God’s vision for my life and taking it as it comes! It’s easier to say all of this when my cross country season went well, as often I think my competitive career’s outcomes define my emotions in other parts of life (more on that later).
Junior year (now senior year) is teaching me a myriad of things, but so far a big theme seems to be following discomfort and trusting myself. I’m learning who is at my metaphorical table of collaborators, friends and mentors. The perpetual journey of figuring out who I want to be and what I want to contribute to the world is continuing, as ever. I’ve discovered and decided that my impact comes through being a visual storyteller. I’m motivated the strongest by listening to the perspectives of those around me and turning their stories into visual mediums, in order to broaden others’ world views. This mission is shifting as I discover new mediums and perspectives.
I say it every quarter and every year but it really is so wild to feel yourself growing in real time! I can’t wait for the growth to continue into this winter.
